'We were not aware': Federal-state algal bloom communications under fire

Officials from the federal environment department say they were not aware of the impact of SA's algal bloom until the state government contacted them in May, two months after the bloom was first detected.
Speaking at a senate inquiry, department officials say the federal environment minister was not formally briefed on the bloom until July.
