Matthew McConaughey Reveals Conversation With His 4-Year-Old Prompted Marriage To His Now-Wife

<div><img src="https://img.huffingtonpost.com/asset/68dd8c6818000086195d0d9e.jpeg?cache=2NvO1gi4He&ops=scalefit_630_noupscale" alt="Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey in 2019" data-caption="Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey in 2019" data-credit-link-back="" data-credit="Rick Kern via Getty Images" />Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey in 2019</div><div class="content-list-component text"><p>It took some coaxing for <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entertainment/topic/matthew-mcconaughey" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Matthew McConaughey</a> to propose to his now-wife, Camila Alves.</p><p>Matthew revealed during a podcast appearance earlier this week that it was a conversation with his then-4-year-old son that prompted him to finally get down on one knee.</p><p>Speaking to Chris Williamson on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPzoKjKP2WE" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Modern Wisdom</a>, the actor recalled: “My son comes to me at four years old and says, ‘Why isn’t Mama a McConaughey?’.”</p><p>At the time, Camila and Matthew had been together since 2006, and shared two children: a son, Levi, and a daughter, Vida. </p><p>“I’m going through my head, ‘You’re fucking four, dude,’” Matthew said. “It’s a great question, but I mean ―– because we’re not married.
