The librarian who became Palomar's first female telescope operator, and who discovered her own comets

<p>From 1985 to 2014, Jean Mueller supported astronomers from around the world who came to Palomar to use its iconic instruments. At the same time, she learned how to operate all three of its major telescopes, discovering 15 comets, 13 asteroids and more than 100 supernovae.</p>
