Trump Declares 'The War Is Over' As Israel Waits For Hostages To Return

(AP Photo/Oded Balilty)</div><div class="content-list-component text"><p><a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/donald-trump/">Donald Trump</a> has declared that the war in Gaza “is over” as <a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/israel/">Israel</a> prepares for the imminent release of hostages who have been held in the territory for the last two years.</p><p>The president said “people are tired of it” as he flew to the region for a historic peace summit.</p><p>A ceasefire has been in place since last Friday after both Israel and Hamas agreed to Trump’s 20-point peace plan.</p><p>Speaking on board Air Force One, Trump told reporters: “It’s been centuries [of fighting]... not just recent.</p><p>“I think people are tired of it. Yeah, the ceasefire is going to hold.”</p><p>He added: “The war is over.
