'Clueless': Kemi Badenoch Mocked After Wrongly Saying Northern Ireland Voted To Leave EU

(AP Photo/Kin Cheung, File)</div><div class="content-list-component text"><p>Tory leader <a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/kemi-badenoch/">Kemi Badenoch</a> has been mocked after she wrongly claimed Northern Ireland voted to leave the EU in the 2016 referendum.</p><p>She confidently stated that had been the result “the last time I checked” during an interview ahead of the <a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/conservative-party/">Conservative Party </a>conference in Manchester.</p><p>In actual fact, Northern Ireland voted 56% to 44% in favour of remaining in the EU, even though the UK as a whole voted to leave.</p><p>Speaking to BBC Northern Ireland political show The View, Badenoch said: “Last time I checked, Northern Ireland did vote to leave.”</p><p>When it was pointed out to her that it did not, the Tory leader bizarrely replied: “Scotland voted to remain, a lot of people in Northern Ireland voted to remain, you’re right.&l
